Spiking is most likely to occur in public places, such as bars and nightclubs.

Although statistics in spiking are not available for every European country, individual countries, for example, France, the UK, have reported numbers as high as 10%. Cities in Germany have suggested that these figures could even be higher due to lack of reporting to authorities and adequate specific drug testing in hospitals. However, drink spiking by use of GHB, Ketamine and other drugs, have shown a significant increase not only in Europe but also worldwide.

There are numerous preventative measures available to combat further increases in spiking.

HANDSOFF PROTECTOR

Why do I need it?
Sexual attacks by a stranger, while being the least common form of attack (around 20%) can often be the most violent and totally unexpected. there's no announcement by the perpetrator and many other forms of self-defense products fail in this regard due to being carried in a handbag or pocket.

What is it?
The hands off piece is a hand worn device, double fastened and made of silicone. Between the straps is an oval holder which contains a rigid plastic plate containing 30 protrusions (spikes) and a specially designed collector for DNA.

Is it a weapon?
Under the Weapons act the hands off piece is not considered a weapon. in certain jurisdiction it may be considered a Dangerous implementation while in countries like UK and Ireland it is considered that any item carried for the purpose of self-defense is illegal.

How do I use it?
As stated above the Hands off Protector is worn, one on each hand, with the device holder on the palm of the hand. it is used by dragging the device on the skin where the protrusions cause scratches and abrasions on the skin surface, loosens skin particles and creates small pools of blood which are then gathered by the DNA collector. it can also be used in a stabbing manner creating small puncture marks on the skin. Alternatively with force the hands off piece can be used by applying pressure on the skin causing intense pain. Injuries from use of the HandsOff protector on the attacker/perpetrator usually disappear after 2 to 3 weeks.

It's main functions are:

• To thwart an attack using very simple defense moves

• To leave identifying markings on the perpetrator (later used as identification evidence)

• To gather DNA from the Perpetrator (Skin particles, sweat, hair samples and blood traces) but not restricted to those just mentioned.

• To act as a deterrent.

The Hands off Protector was designed primarily with women in mind, but not exclusively so. Joggers, walkers, late-shift workers and nurses could benefit greatly from the added protection of this product. This list is non-binding as everyone can benefit from this product.
